MORESCA NOVA – Tradional South Italian music

Moresca Nova was born in 1993 as the result of many years of research and studies of folk traditions. It has performed in many Italian squares and in Spain, Greece, Tunisia, France, Cyprus, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Poland and Sweden.
Ensemble was awarded Second prize at the 1st National Festival of the Popular Song of the Italian Federation of Popular Traditions (FITP) – Sgurgola, October 2009.
Moresca Nova presents traditional songs of the Alta Murgia region, with references to influences of neighboring regions of Campania and Lucania. They perform sonatas d’amore, stornelli of traditional peasant culture, tarantellas and tammurriate.
