LP DUO

The programme features a part of the repertory which has been performed by LP Duo all over the world at the most prestigious concert venues such as the Carnegie Hall in New York and Kennedy Center in Washington. The programme also presents several pieces from the latest CD of the LP Duo which was recently recorded in the Netherlands and which is set for release in autumn 2016.

Pianists Sonja Lončar and Andrija Pavlović founded LP Duo in 2004. It has since become one of the most successful European chamber ensembles. Having finished their undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, they completed Konzertexamen studies in piano duo with honor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock (Germany). As solo musicians and piano duo members they won so far over 30 awards at international music competitions. LP Duo was announced as one of the eight best piano duos on the Globe at the biggest world competition Miami Dranoff Two pianos, Florida.
LP Duo were winners of the City of Belgrade Award for creativity of youth in arts, as well as the Annual Award of the Association of the Musical Artists of Serbia (UMUS) for best young artists. They won the Bruno-Frey-Stiftung Musikpreis of the Landesakademie Ochsenhausen in Germany, which is usually awarded only to German citizens.
So far they have performed successfully on tours in Serbia, Netherlands, Finland, Danmark, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, San Marino, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the USA, as well as on festivals around the world. They performed on a humanitarian concert for the UNICEF in Germany.
In 2014 they debuted at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and in 2015 they performed for the first time at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
As soloists they performed with the RTS Symphony Orchestra, Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Belgrade Strings, Orchestra of the National Theatre in Belgrade and Žebeljan Orchestra. LP Duo gave Serbian premieres of more than 30 contemporary pieces, among which several world premieres. Many composers have dedicated their music to LP Duo. Their discography encompasses six CDs published in Serbia, Croatia, Denmark and Netherlands.
LP Duo are regularly invited to give master classes of piano duos in Serbia and abroad and they are restless promoters of Serbian contemporary music. Sonja Lončar is assistant professor of the Faculty of Music Belgrade and Andrija Pavlović is a docent of the NOVA Academy European University in Belgrade. They are founders of the festival Keyboard Days Belgrade, the first festival in Serbia dedicated to various keyboard instruments.
In addition to performing activities LP Duo compose music for theater (Atelje 212, National Theatre in Belgrade, National Theatre in Belgrade, Yugoslav Drama Theatre, BITEF, Little Theatre Duško Radović, Puppet Theatre Pinokio, National Theatre in Sombor, National Theatre in Kikinda, Slovensko gledališče in Celje, Slovenia...), film, TV, dance choreography, visual art projects, popular music, and so on.
They are among the co-authors of the project Quantum Music which is supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. Partners on the project are the Institute of Musicology of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Center for the Promotion of Science (CPN), University of Oxford in Great Britain, Danish National School of Performing Arts (Statens Scenekunstskole) in Copenhagen, Denmark and Kino Šiška in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
